9 May, Victory Day 2014 (9 Мая, День Победы 2014)

Today is the 69th anniversary of the Victory in the World War The II. I am grateful to all who made my future possible, including my grandfathers and grandmothers. However I'd prefer celebrating not victories in war but years of peace on earth which is so lacking these days. I pray that people didn't have to die to achieve this peace...
Have clear sky above, peaceful atmosphere amd be happy wherever you are!

  1. You never hear anyone mention VE day here anymore. I had to look it up to see if it's the same date as yours and it is. The one our country still observes is Pearl Harbour Day in December.

  2. My father served with the Canadian army in WWII. He was in Sicily, Italy and Holland. I've been thinking of him a lot these days. I agree with your thoughts about peace.

  4. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone cared about their neighbors, if what we had was enough and we could still share, if we could just care about the well-being of others, even the creatures of the world. I don't understand the idea of not wanting for others what you want for yourself.

I don't think you can bake bread in the microwave. Probably wouldn't turn out very well. The recipe I make is so easy. Anyone can do it! :)

    Have a great week. Tammy

  5. What great sacrifices were made by the men and women of that generation - we should all be very grateful to them. Thank you for reminding us. :)

  8. Thank you for this World War II reminder. My husband's father was in Europe during the war (when wasn't America involved in various wars around the world!) We do have our countries to thank for whatever part they had in restoring peace, and yes it was at the cost of many people's lives.
World peace is what we need, that is my prayer too.
