I would not like to sound ungrateful or something but happened so that all my in-laws went to the wedding and we stayed home ALONE for few days!We had a pleasurable weekend with my D spent with friends and with each other. We had family like deals to do: shopping, food preparation, watching TV... I enjoyed all that so much! Day before yesterday my D made (with my help. hehe) a yummy kadai paneer - a kind of cheese common in South Asian cuisine. I'd like to repeat this tasty experience soon.
However the circumstances played with me again and I was not able to give a blanket progress update this week on time. It disappoints me, because I thought it would be a consistent weekly post.
I achieved something with the blanket - started to making a second half of the squares. It seemed like after this the progress went far faster and I can feel that it will not take me long to finish the project. It was noticed by my D as well when I put all the blocks and squares on the bed. This is going to be a thrilling blanket, the room would definitely look brighter and more cheerful :) We went to buy more yarn for the blanket last weekend, because I was worried it wouldn't be sufficient when I start making the border. These are the squares waiting to be made into blocks of 4.
I purchased some yarn for a dream clothing project I am planning to engage with pretty soon. Yes, I want to continue my ventures in cloth crocheting, as I had already made that Bolero last year. Crocheting of the clothing items is not scary once you get the gauge right. When I tried to crochet first rows with this yarn I got scared that I wouldn't be able to SEE the stitches as it has all those lashes which fill up the spaces, but I found the way out by simply feeling the next stitches with my finger tips and counting every stitch as I crochet the rows.
Some closer look of the thread - all way fluffy and soft! Can't wait to wrap myself into a coat made from it!Nothing more to tell about, just same routine of office, coming home and lazying around...I feel very hot here this Summer, like I can't avoid feeling hot as soon as I go out of the AC room. They promise even higher temperatures this year, like around +50 C!!! In this case I will go to my native place and stay there as long as possible :)
Stay safe and happy wherever you are! Hope you all had a n enjoyable weekend and have some good plans for the coming up :)
Your blanket is going to turn out so cute, I love the colours you have chosen. I had bought similar eyelash yarn some years ago. After some attempts at crocheting it, I gave up and knitted a scarf with it as it is difficult to see crochet stitches. :) After your project is done I will give it a try again.
ReplyDeleteThe temperature in Ahmedabad is 44 C so I can just imagine your plight.
Thanks, Sangeetha! I also started liking it even more, may be because it now has that blanket look. Ahh..I hope I'd be able to do anything with this yarn and good.
Delete44C is just too hot! I am already whining when it is a little above +30C!
Hi Anna, I have stayed at to end the blanket, it's beautiful
ReplyDeletegreat patience really like the job, ow, I can not make such a big project
but if you look very hard working and determined, I wish to finish quickly,
Use it well, from Turkey with love ..
Thanks, Derya, for encouraging me :) But I am sure you'd have finished such project quickly!
DeleteYou are diligently working towards your mega project and I am sure it will look wonderful :) here the temperature is 41 and I am allergic to dust and heat. But sometimes the heat reduces a bit by late evening here. Generally, hot weather lasts for a continuous 1 week and then cools down a bit for few days, it rains in this case. It is a dry place so it doesn't turn humid. That's the positive thing I like about this city.
ReplyDeleteI too have this furry yarn, thought of making scarf, right now using for some small projects:)
The colors you chose are lovely!
Then this is really hard for you when it gets all dusty and hot... Do you stay indoors as much as you can then? Here I'll get humid in June - I don't look forward to it.
DeleteHave you posted those projects in your blog? I'd like to see :)
Great to see your crochet progress, but 50 degrees?! It might be a while before you even want to think about wearing that coat...
ReplyDeleteYou see even if Summer here is so hot, winter is also here, with temperature which drops till 0 C!
DeleteSo I really look forward to make the coat and feel cozy in it :)
Napreduje tvoj veseli pokrivač lepo!
ReplyDeleteInteresantan konac si kupila, stvarno može da se izgube petlje:)
I kod mene iz zime direktno u leto i 35 C!!
Pozdrav iz Srbije!:)
Can't wait to see your blanket when it's done! :) It's finally warming up here but I'll kill myself if it ever got THAT hot!
ReplyDeleteI will try to finish it soon, Jojo. No, don't kill yourself, you still can use ACs and fans :)
DeleteOh, that fluffy crochet yarn is GORGEOUS! I like your yin-yang arrangement of it!
ReplyDeleteYou are the only (so far) who noticed. It was a hidden sign in my picture :)hehe
DeleteLove the colors in your blanket! The 'fuzzy' yarn is beautiful but crazy to work with, isn't it? Good luck and stay cool!
ReplyDeleteSometimes those quiet weekends make for the best times! I am loving this blanket, more and more - don't worry about the updates...life does tend to get in the way! And, a new coat - ambitious girl...though you might want to hold off if it's going to be that hot while you're crocheting it! :-) Happy May, Anna - XOXO
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready for winter now :) Maybe you remember the posts I made last year about us freezing at home and outs ide- so I want to be prepared.hehe
DeleteOh it constantly gets prettier! I love it! I am glad you had such a wonderful time. Sending you wishes of creativity and love!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Greekwitch! The blanket will be totally Summery so that to remind us about this season when it is cold :)
DeleteWishes of love and creativity to you too, dear!
Don't feel bad about not adding to your blanket or sharing a week's progress. Life happens, and it happens best when we share it with loved ones. When you crochet the next squares, you'll smile remembering the wonderful time you spent with your D.
ReplyDeleteSurely I will remember :) Those were the happiest days after long time we managed to spend together!
DeleteLove the progress on the blanket and I look forward to seeing your new clothing item.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Thanks, Meredith! Sorry for not visiting your blog - will come there soon :)
DeleteWow Anna, the blanket is already looking so beautiful! Loving its journey thru ur blog posts :) The weather in HK is surprising not hot yet, it gets v hot n humid in summer months and not possible to sit w/o an AC! But we are still having cooler weather here and i am enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteThe new yarn looks very good, esp the colors..waiting to see what it will become!
Have a great weekend Anna dear and oh..! The paneer must have been divine, so sweet of ur D to cook it for u naa.. ;)
Hi Anna
ReplyDeleteYup. Its too hot here too. Braving 42-43 degrees. This too shall pass. The more you talk about heat, the more you feel the heat :) So lets engage ourselves into something that we like so that we forget its too hot :)
The blanket is coming up well. The squares all stacked look nice. Happy crocheting. My mother made me a sling back with the fluffy wool. It looks pretty. But she was saying that its a little cumbersome to crochet.
Have a nice weekend.
The blanket is growing beautifully Anna! The new yarn looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteThose colours are glorious. What an inspired choice. I'm glad you had a few quiet days to stay home and play houses. Very nice. I'll go take a look at that paneer recipe.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you had a great time at home ;o) The blanket is stunning! I can't wait to see your coat! You asked on my blog if I use acrylics, I do ;o) Take Care and keep cool ;o)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the colours you've chosen for that blanket Anna, it's going to be really striking :)
ReplyDeleteOh goodness that yarn is so good... where did you get it from. In India?
ReplyDeleteEvu - Amateurcrafts.blogspot.com
Yea, Evu, I bought it in India :) there was no tag or label though on this yarn. So I have no idea who the manufacturer is.
DeleteOh my goodness- the way you use color is amazing!! This is going to be SO beautiful- what a project! I can't wait to see the finished photos---
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting again-- I'm saving your blog on my list so I don't miss your beautiful posts:)
Vicki
Vicki, thank you so much for an encouraging comment! I will try to finish the blanket asap - I've made more than 60% of it now for sure, just need to sew squares together and then make a nice border!
DeleteThanks for visiting me :)
