Beans, Marigolds and Little Roses - Friday Garden

The working week is over, our minds are planning something for the weekend, and one of this plans is to simply take a rest and enjoy sunny days. Here they have become really sunny and hot, though nights are still pleasantly cool and slightly windy. In many places over the globe (including my native country) the winter is not willing to give space to the spring and persistently surprises with snow and cold winds.
However, there is a way out. As I am a big fan of the weekends (oh yes!), I thought of making a weekly Friday post about my little Indian garden in order to create a "pre-weekend" relaxing mood for myself and you, dears :)
What do I have in my garden these days? Same favorite plants, which as I have noticed, grow best in Indian weather conditions. This year I sowed beans, marigolds and fennel earlier in January, so that they will have enough time to develop before the heat starts. I have made some kind of a garden journal as well (a paper one), and keep a track of all the planting activities in it.
My beans have started giving little flowers of a beautiful lilac shade mixed with white. I feel like becoming a tiny fairy and spending a day in the green thicket of bean plants...
Each and every bean I sowed grew into a good bush. You can also see two onions, which grew from the market onion bulbs.
Marigolds haven't achieved their height yet, but the buds have appeared already.

An earlier picture of fluffy fennel, marigolds made a nice company to it.
The rose bush grows in front of our house and this year again is cheering us up with its little roses. Such a pleasant view when you leave in the morning for office!
Friday garden made me very happy, hope it made your day happier too. Have a nice weekend wherever you are, dear friends!

  2. The way the cold is hanging on here I have a feeling we're gonna go from winter to summer with no spring. I admire people who plant and can keep them alive. I have a brown thumb! lol If it's got a flower or fruit on it, I'll kill it.

    1. Thanks, but here in such hot weather it is really not easy to keep them alive. My poor beans' leaves turned to protect themselves from the hot Sun.

  5. Wow - nice to find a fellow pagan, artist and a girl almost next door! I loved reading about your journey to India. Myself, my husband and my 5 year old boy picked up sticks in NZ last year and plonked ourselves almost right next door in Thailand. Planning on popping over to India at the end of the year.
Am envious of your crochet cleverness. I've tried to learn forever and still don't quite get it.

  6. Hello Hindustanka.....Thank you so much for your visits to my blog! Love having you stop by.

Ohhhhh, your garden is a delight. I LOVED the tour! Especially the roses.

Do you cook Indian style? I love the creamed spinach dish served at Indian restaurants. Do you know what I mean or how to make it?

Hope you have a wonderful "relaxing" weekend! Don't you just LOVE weekends? Susan

    1. I don't cook Indian myself, just few dishes. That spinach cream is called palak. It serves as kind of gravy for other dishes as well. How to make..I need to ask my family :)
      I do love them!

  9. Hi

I am sure you know every new leaf thats showing up :) Its a great feeling to be seeing something grow that you sowed. Isn't it? I too have a small green corner in my balcony and when I stand there to admire and look around, my little daughter doesn't like ti cause I once told her they are my children. So she feels left out probably :). Hey.... the roses remind me of Ice cream. They are lovely! Have a lovely Sunday

    1. Hi!
Oh... I didn't think children can react like this on simple things we say...you can then involve your daughter in gardening too! it would fun for both of you!
Ice cream roses! what a lovely comparison :)

  11. It is getting very hot here during the day too. Close to 100 degrees today. But the afternoons and evenings have been a bit breezy so it doesn't feel quite so bad. You are so fortunate to have a garden and to watch it grow. I have two balconies with plants but they aren't doing as well this year. Surviving but not really growing. Not sure why. Strange winter we had for sure. I do hope you are having a lovely new week. I'm so very sad that the days are passing so fast. I don't want Spring Break to end. Best wishes to you, Tammy

  14. Lucky, lucky, lucky! I'm not sure if I'm going to plant anything this year. The terrace has been overran by mosquitoes. I'm not talking about a few, but a curtain of them and I can't figure out where they are coming from. So until the pest is gone, I shall stare at your beauties ;-)
