Even A Storm Can Bring Beauty - Friday Garden (Nature)

Leading a not so housewife-like life here in India, I try to find some relief from a busy schedule in my favorite hobbies: reading in the evenings, crocheting, crafting and gardening... The latter to my disappointment has gone onto background these days. There are few reasons, one of which is hot Indian summer. Many plants, probably, under my not so experienced hand, simply can't stand the heat and dry. Unforgivably but I missed to post a birthday wish to my dear D, who turned... doesn't matter, he is still as young as when we met, though he was quite frustrated that he started another decade this year. Don't be sad, dear, we are yet to do so much in our lives (we don't even have children yet!)! Moreover, we ourselves still feel like kids, and behave like kids sometimes :)
This year I am planning to fully start planting again in the month of August, when the days will be warm and wet. Having nothing exciting in my garden as of now, I am enjoying whatever comes my way in a sense of beauties of nature. Thus yesterday we had an unexpectedly stormy evening. Around 5 pm the sky went dark and was having and giving away that strange yellowish glow. The wind was opening all the doors in our house, letting the rain to come in. The electricity was gone, and we had to lit the candles everywhere. The storm scared me first with all the thunders and lightnings... But it became fresh very soon, and I was grateful for this.
The rain brought some other beauty afterwards - the gulmohar flowers which were torn from the top branches and fell on the ground. I picked up few of them and brought home. The flowers made me very happy with their orange-green palette.
They were still with me today morning... when the power went off again. I lit up the candles and liked how my otherwise plain table looked like - festive and mystic at the same time.
One more beauty I found in the morning was this solitary moss rose blossom (thanks to Kathleen from Yesteryear Embroideries for letting me know its name:)).
I am taking a day off tomorrow from my office, too tired to carry on like I did the whole week, participating as a teacher in our preschool's summer camp. It is a tough job to do, and so much responsible! Now I need a good rest, may be a good dinner, and a good drink... and a good dose of crochet! It has been long since the last portion of squares was made.
Wishing you to have a relaxing, joyful weekend, my dears! Thank you so much for all your beautiful, praising comments about fairy Angelonia and painted pebbles - I feel so happy being able to share my inspiration with all of you! Hugs!!!

  1. I like moss rose. I like to put it in a hanging pot and let it hang over the side.

  3. My planting area is a terrace on a 7th floor apartment. We are on the top floor, on a corner, so it gets really hot. I have pots and have to bring them back and forth, and some don't make it. It makes me sad, too, and my Piano Man tries to cheer me up by helping me find new ways to make our terrace less scorching. Let's see if it works...

Love the rose (great picture of it!).

Enjoy your day off. Have some 'me' time ;-)

    1. Making a garden on the 7th floor sounds heroic! :) And it is always great to have your love done who understands your passion and supports it!

Yea, the rose was the only colorful spot in my garden, no other flowers blossom - they feel too hot.
Thanks, same to you, Magaly! Don't forget to enjoy coffee on weekend! :)

  5. I love gardening! However, here it's not a good idea to plant during the summer months since it is just too hard on the plant - no rain. Our bet time to plant is the fall so that plants can establish over the (usually wet) winter. However, there are still enough gardening chores which I love. I also grow vegetables and they need some "maintenance".
The orange flower is lovely!!! I would like that one as well.

  6. I love storms, so wild and everything is so serene afterwards. And candles, I love candles because they make everyone look ten years younger!

The little moss rose is very pretty.

Have you looked online for flowers that might thrive in the dry season? Like you, I moved from one climate (England) to another (Southern USA) and I didn't know what would grow. All the flowers I was familiar with just shrivelled up. Now I grow tomatoes and peppers, instead!

Yes, I shall do this, select some plants which will happily grow in Indian seasons. Thanks for a suggestion, Rhissanna :)
Also I always feel that English touch in your works - nothing can change who you are!

  9. My kind of weather...storms! What a mood enhancer. I love the rain and the thunder, that is if I don't have to be out in it.
The bright orange flowers are beautiful and would look lovely in a painting. I don't paint, but I could envision them as a painting. And the moss rose is so brilliant of a hot pink colour.
Oh, I finally am beginning to highlight the bloggers whom I chose to award the Liebster Award too...took me long enough to do it! I will probably be a bit slow, but I am going to highlight each blogger so they will possibly gain some more followers for their blogs. Thank you so very much for the honor of awarding me last year with the Liebster Award. I am ever so grateful for the praise.
    hugs,

  13. It is very hot 112* most days, I have been swimming and enjoying the pool and bbq or we go out to eat and find coolness in the casino restaurants, not much time for the computer! But I do enjoy your blog and all that is India. I love when the power goes out and I can light candles, happens a lot here in the summer as so many are using air conditioning and appliances. Have a wonderful weekend!
